MAINLAND/SOUTHWEST Yvonne Comfort joined the Port Coquitlam Recreation Department management team early in 2019. Port Coquitlam also welcomed new staff members Kegan Belina- Project Implementation Specialist in Business Operations, Yuriy Kostritsyn – Facility Maintenance Coordinator, Alex Bickers – Festivals and Events Producer, Mitchel Guest and Mike Por – Superintendents of Parks, and Doug Rose – Parks Section Manager. VANCOUVER ISLAND/COAST The Regional District of Nanaimo saw Val McNutt, Arena Programmer, retire in September 2018 after nearly twelve years with the department. The hiring process is now underway for her replacement. Lewis Jones joined the community programming team in September on a temporary basis as the Recreation Program Assistant. In December 2018, the Municipality of North Cowichan welcomed Maaike McCooey to the new position of Administrative Supervisor, Recreation. Maaike will work out of the Cowichan Aquatic Centre and comes to municipal recreation from the private sector.
THOMPSON/OKANAGAN Lori Mullen celebrated her one year anniversary as the Recreation Manager at the District of Summerland. Joanne Malar is back from maternity leave as the Recreation Program Coordinator at the District of Summerland.
NORTHEAST Paola Banks returns to the City of Fort St. John as a Recreation Programmer. Naomi Gallant has accepted a new position with the City of Fort St. John as the Community Development Coordinator. The District of Taylor welcomes Paula Calla as their new Community Services Program and Events Coordinator. Ross deBoer joins the City of Dawson Creek as the General Manager of Community Service.
