Port Coquitlam’s Recreation Department welcomes new leadership staff to the team: Joe Almeida, Facilities Superintendent, holds a Civil Engineering degree and Project Management certification. He has more than 15 years of progressive experience in various local government positions. Robi Smith, Arts and Culture Coordinator, is an accomplished visual artist and educator with a background in journalism and communications. She recently completed a multi-year community-engaged artist residency with the City of Maple Ridge and holds a Masters of Education in Arts for Social Change from Simon Fraser University. Rossi Zacharias, Marketing Coordinator, has taken the lead on coordinating and delivering a variety of marketing activities to promote city programs, events and services with a key focus on recreation. Rossi has been a freelance graphic designer for over 10 years. She previously worked in the recreation and fitness industry with the provincial government, the City of Saanich, Royal Roads University and the YMCA.

WHISTLER
Daniel Cindric has recently joined our department as a Recreation Programmer at Myrtle Philip Community School and will be primarily responsible for overseeing our highly prescribed children summer daycamp and afterschool care programs.

Joanne Malar was promoted from Recreation Coordinator to the new position of Recreation Supervisor in July. Laura McCarron was then hired to fill the open Recreation Coordinator position.

We are happy to bring Carrie White back to our department who will really help up our game with local communications about our various drop in programming.
